MTV Voices released their interview with Esmée they did a while ago. It’s defenitely worth the read! She talks about how she got discovered, leaving Tennman Records, going back to youtube and more.
My name is Esmee Denters, and my passion took me from Holland to the Hollywood Hills. I grew up in a small town in Holland and Justin Timberlake was the one who discovered me online. It was really crazy -one day I was just singing for fun, and the next I got flown over to the U.S. to meet with Justin. I was the first artist on his record label – which was insane.
Life completely changed in about six months. One day I was working at home in a pancake house and six months later I was on the Oprah Winfrey show and travelling the world – everything went so quickly but it was a really incredible experience. I guess sometimes it felt really surreal because it all happened so fast that I barely felt like I was in the moment at the time. But it was a once in a life-time opportunity so I ran with it. I moved to L.A. to record my first album; it was amazing – there are so many people that are trying to accomplish and live their dreams. In Holland, not a lot of people believe they can achieve anything, it’s a different state of mind! People in Holland are more down to earth, as opposed to the U.S. where people dream big and are very career driven
Like we reported before Esmée is part of ShowCase Live in London this February. The show will be on February 24 in the Stamford Bridge Stadium in London. Tickets are £10 and are available now on SeeTickets.com!
Esmée Denters started her career by uploading videos to YouTube where she was soon discovered by American superstar Justin Timberlake. Justin went on to sign her as the first artist on his label Tennman Records. She released her debut album, Outta Here in 2009 which she co-wrote with executive producer Timberlake.
Now, after the spending countless months in the studio, she’s ready to perform her first show in over two years and we’re excited to be amongst the first to hear some new material!
