Esmée’s debut single “Outta Here” is reentering the Itunes UK charts after her The Voice UK blind audition aired on Saturday. The single is currently at #41 in the Itunes UK Single Charts. Another fun fact: Esmée Denters was a trending topic in the Netherlands after Esmée’s audition aired.
Esmée sat down with BBC Newsbeat to talk about her The Voice UK audition, her coach Will.i.am and more. You can watch the video interview below.
The Voice contestant Esmee Denters signed with Justin Timerberlake’s Tennman Records after being spotted on YouTube.
Esmée spoke to Digital Spy about her The Voice UK blind audition, her coach will.i.am, getting dropped from Tennmann records and her (online) fanbase. It’s definitely worth the read so be sure to check it out!
The Voice UK contestant Esmée Denters has admitted that she was “angry and confused” after being dropped from her record label.
Denters was previously signed by Justin Timberlake’s label and had a top ten hit in the UK before being dropped in 2012.
“I think at the moment when I got dropped I was sort of angry for a long time and very confused,” she told Digital Spy.
“People don’t really know what it’s like unless you go through it, and when I went through it was the darker side of the music industry. A lot of the time you just see the glamorous things and you just see what’s popular. You don’t see how much work goes into these things.”
She continued: “I was very lucky – I was handed stuff on a silver platter when I first started out, and the reality is a lot of people have to play in every little pub and they have to work their ass off. I think the people that just keep going no matter what – I think those are the people eventually that win.
BBC has announced that Esmée has auditioned for The Voice UK and that her audition will air this Saturday, on January 24, on BBC One.
Blind Auditions 3
The blind auditions continue as superstar coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Rita Ora and Ricky Wilson compete to ensure they secure the best voices on their teams.
Much to Sir Tom’s delight, this episode sees many Welsh faces behind the spinning chairs. Schoolteacher Joe Woolford, gym cleaner Stephanie Webber and Lady Gaga tribute act Liss Jones are amongst the ten hopefuls eager to gain a spot on one of the teams. We also hear from Esmée Denters – a YouTube sensation once signed with Justin Timberlake’s record label - and school disco favourite Black Lace’s Dene Michael returns to the stage.
Digital Spy UK is reporting that Esmée will perform “Yellow” by Coldplay. Be sure to tune in this saturday to find out if Esmée makes it to the next round. Fingers crossed!
Esmée just posted a beautifully written open letter on her official facebook account which she wrote to Gary Barlow. I would recommend everyone to read it, because it’s definitely worth the read!
Open letter to Gary Barlow.
I know that writing open letters to artists and politicians voicing an opinion about the choices they are making/have made seems to be the trendy thing to do these days, however this letter is different as it is not filled with judgement of any kind.
After watching the BBC documentary ‘When Corden met Barlow‘ I was so Inspired and moved by the interview that I felt like I had to thank you in some way for being so open to share your story with us. I don’t know you personally and thought maybe this way I could reach out and let you know that I think you are a class act! (I’m sure you have been told this many times!)
If anyone hasn’t seen it yet then please go watch it now! Especially if you are an aspiring artist. Life changing stuff!
The Dutch music star, Esmee Denters, is coming to Harrogate to perform on Thursday 13 March 2014 as part of the Jakes Unplugged evenings run at Jakes Café Bar.
Jakes Café Bar may not be a place one associates with live music. Many of us know the place for the beautiful cakes you see on display as you walk along Oxford Street, or for the popular monthly wine club. But contrary to what one might expect, it also turns out that it is a thriving music venue, with artists the calibre of Miss Denters regularly making an appearance.
